A) About Us

DelhiOYE - 'Delhi Open Your Eyes' is an initiative by student of Tata Institute of Social Sciences, with the support of Delhi Police, to prevent incidents of Sexual Harassment at Public Spaces.

DelhiOYE provides a transparent and convenient platform to report incidents of Sexual Harassment at Public Spaces. The reports submitted here are brought to the notice of Delhi Police for timely and rightful redressal.

At present, our focus is Delhi Region.

 

 

B) The Concept

The concept is to enable citizens to report and contribute in building a SAFETY MAP of their surroundings. This safety map, available in the public forum, is a powerful tool for not only the police, but also for the citizens. We can report an incident, highlight that our area needs police attention and thus help police by providing precise information to address the problem.

The aim is therefore to create an aware and pro-active society that is well-informed and shares responsibility of the safety of its surroundings with the Police.

 

C) What happens if I submit a report on DelhiOYE ?

Step 1 : You Submit the Report via web/ sms/ phone apps/ email/ twitter/ facebook etc.

Step 2 : Our staff verifies the report by contacting you via Mobile No. / email ID

               (Your mobile no./email ID is only for verification and is kept confidential)

 

Step 3 : Your report is uploaded on the Delhi OYE portal as a red spot on a map indicating the exact location of the incident.

 

Step 4 : Delhi Police acknowledges the reports and initiates appropriate action.

Step 5 : A feedback of the action initiated is updated on the Delhi OYE portal under your report.

 

D) Is it mandatory to reveal my identity / contact number ?

No, you can choose to be anonymous and share the information. But for the Delhi Police to act upon your complaint expeditiously, we need to verify that the report is genuine and true. Any Mobile number / E-mail where you can be contacted for verification is thus helpful. Rest assured that your phone number & email-id shall be kept confidential.

F) What information should be shared in a good report ?

A good and actionable report should have the following details :

1. Date & Time of the incident

2. Location (With any landmark, preferably searchable on the google map)

4. Frequency of the Incident - Is the problem repetitive in nature.

6. Specific Information like Vehicle Number, Phone Number (in case of crank calls), Address of the culprit etc, if available.

 

G) In case of an emergency, should I report here ?

DelhiOYE is not a replacement of the legal procedure that is in place. This is an endeavour to provide citizens an additional platform with easier ways to report. As we are in the pilot phase, we strongly recommend that in case of an emergency, you must first contact the direct helplines :

Thereafter, you may also submit a report here also to ensure that a feedback of the action taken on your complaint can be shared with you. In addition to this, all reports shared on this portal contribute in drawing a 'Safety Map' of your area and thus help in preventing any future incidents.

 

H) I am not from Delhi - Can I report ?

At present, this initiative is in pilot phase where our focus is Delhi Region.  

 

I) Is this portal only for women complainants ?

   No, even men can report on this portal if the complaint is related to Sexual Harassment.

 

 

J) Can I report if I witness someone being harassed ?

    Definitely, we encourage you to do so.
